PERA PALACE
Pera Palace Hotel, which overlooks the magnificent view of the Golden Horn and has been standing in Beyoğlu since 1895, offers its guests high standards with its excellent architecture. You can see Atatürk's Museum Room, Agatha Christie's Room and Historical Elevator, and you can sip your tea with the music playing on the piano in the Domed Hall.
Departing from Paris in 1888 and arriving in Istanbul after an 80-hour journey, the Orient Express (Orient Express) was a very luxurious train whose passengers were generally high-class bureaucrats, writers and the rich. The construction of the Pera Palace Hotel was actually decided due to the accommodation needs of these people. Opened in 1895 with a special ball, the hotel was one of the most magnificent buildings in Istanbul. Pera Palace Hotel was the first building in Istanbul to be electrified outside the Ottoman palaces, the first to have an electric elevator and the first to have hot water.
In addition to the musealized rooms of Atatürk and Agatha Christie, Pera Palace Hotel also has the Greta Garbo suite decorated with rose scent and silks, the Ernest Hemingway suite equipped with Hemingway books, and the Pierre Loti suite with a view of the Golden Horn and Pierre Loti, giving its visitors the opportunity to wander through the pages of history.
